Juxtaposed – Art Show

The Eclectic Collective presents Juxtaposed – An Exhibition of Diverse Creations

Featured Artists:

Paul Hyde

Paul Hyde, former lead singer and songwriter of the Juno Award-winning bands The Payola$ and Rock & Hyde, has been creating resin-based visual art for over two decades. While his musical career spanned five albums with longtime collaborator Bob Rock and five solo projects, Hyde always maintained a passion for visual art, often gathering inspiration while on tour. His early resin collages were challenging due to toxic materials, but with advancements in resin, Hyde has returned to collage art full-time in recent years. He has showcased his work in two exhibitions: “Souvenirs” in Vancouver and “Because I Say So” in Montreal, and now dedicates his days to creating new pieces in his studio.

Kat McPhee

Kat is an East Vancouver-based artist known for her vibrant expressionist portraits and mixed media prints that blend graffiti and animation influences. With a sharp eye for color and a quirky sense of humor, Kat’s work spans a broad palette of oil pastels, acrylics, and spray paint, adding rich texture to her pieces. She creates privately commissioned pet portraits almost daily at Vancouver’s Arts Factory Society and has showcased her art in galleries and restaurants. Her collections feature eccentric animal portraits, pop culture icons, and skatedeck art, all inspired by street art and surrealism. Kat also runs a clothing brand, Mister, We Are the Weirdos, promoting individuality and creativity.

David Patterson

David is an accomplished painter whose floral, abstract, and landscape work blends elements of abstraction and realism, often exploring themes of memory, time, and the natural world. Based in White Rock, his art is characterized by its vibrant use of colour, texture, and layered compositions that evoke both emotional depth and visual intrigue. David’s pieces are a fusion of intuitive expression and careful technique, reflecting his fascination with the complexities of perception and the passage of time. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, and he continues to be a prominent figure in the Canadian contemporary art scene.

Catherine St. Germain

Catherine is a Canadian painter known for her expressive, intuitive works that celebrate the beauty and complexity of the human spirit. Based in Coquitlam, BC, Catherine’s art journey began as a form of therapy, helping her process grief and trauma through the exploration of colour, texture, and form. Her vibrant, abstract paintings often incorporate bold brushstrokes and layers of mixed media, creating deeply emotional and personal narratives. A passionate advocate for mental health, Catherine uses her art to inspire healing and connection, sharing her journey through exhibitions and her involvement in community projects.

Jim Davidson

Jim Davidson is a White Rock-based artist whose diverse background includes decades of award-winning work in advertising, design, illustration, and cartooning. Now fully focused on his art practice, Jim divides his time between painting, murals, teaching, and publishing. His abstract work is self-therapeutic, while his passion lies in creating figurative pieces, often experimenting with new styles in oil and acrylic. A native of Penticton, BC, Jim has lived in Montreal, Britain, and Vancouver before settling in White Rock for the past 27 years. His work is part of collections across Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia. He is currently working on a portrait series of creative greats and a whimsical collection inspired by Beatles songs.

Jim is also an art teacher, and has invited 12 of his students to participate in this exhibition by participating in a themed project. They were each asked to choose songs that meant something to them and do shadow box collages incorporating visuals from the song, some or all of an actual vinyl album, and anything else that felt like it belonged. Jim finished them off with a resin pour.
